also the board wouldnt let me install windows, i made sure the boot order was right. it would go through the soping setup files to harddisk but then said now restarting, freezes there. i turn off and back on goes back to the coping. so i canceled formated drive again and put it in another computer installed windows and now reinstalled the drive in this emachine. i have it repairing windows because the same blue 7b message comes up

it finished the fix, now it started loading home, froze at a black screen right after the windows booting screen(screen with moving load bar)

still doing it wont go past, i tried loading a ubunto live cd but it doesnt load past the uncompressing(i tried 3 cds)

Can you run memtest86 to check the ram?
Download either the bootable floppy disk image or the bootable CD image. I suggest you remove all memory except for one stick & test the sticks individually.

i only have one stick, and i tested it with the ubuntu live cd

also with the help of keith i got windows installing right now
