I was having a friend fix my computer because the cd drive was not being recognized. He went into regedit and deleted the files called "upperfilter" and "lowerfilter". This worked at first, but then the icon for the drive dissapeared again. He went back and deleted the files, but deleted it from the wrong registry and accidently deleted from both the keyboard and mouse registries. I didnt think this would affect the periphials since when we did it for the cd drive windows just recognized again. Im just trying to find other things to try before reinstalling windows. Thanx!

Have you tried a System Restore from prior to those registry edits?

Yea I didnt know how to do that originally, but I was searching through other forums and found out how. I restarted holding f8 and then selected to boot from last known good configuration. The keyboard and mouse work now, my d drive is still not working but im ok with that. Thanks for the help!
