I've been trying to install IE7, but each and every time, it's failed. I've tried it with every version Microsoft have released, including errors, but each time I get an error at the end.

I reboot as it says, and open the shortcut it put on the desktop called 'Internet Explorer Troubleshooting'. It links to THIS PAGE. I've tried every method on the page, none even getting past step 1 or 2.
They all ask me to open Windows\ie7.log, but that doesn't exist, only ie7_main.log does. So, I open it and I can't find any of the errors listed on the page, so I can't continue with the steps.

The log, ie7_main.log is attached, but I had to add a txt entension.

I'm running Windows XP Pro, SP2. However, the disk I used to install XP had IE and Outlook stripped, and replaced with Firefox. This was to make the most of our slower PC's, as the disks we used were stripped of lots of things to make Windows light weight.

What can I do? We need IE installed to run the new software for our office; if we don't have the software working within a few days, we won't be able to do business!

Stripping out IE6 has no doubt caused the problem since, technically, IE7 is an update to IE6, and IE7 may need IE6 support files to install properly. Microsoft takes it for granted that IE6 will be on your system. Stripping it out was not a wise decision whatever the reason for doing so, it's an integral component of the operating system.

I suggest you install the latest version of IE6 which would have been included with Windows XP Pro SP2, Then try installing IE7 again. You can get the final release of IE6 here:

[color=#FF6666]When trying to install IE 7, be sure to take advantage of the Windows Update Page.
The site may have some updates, that you have not installed for use with Internet Explorer 6.

I say this because Microsoft adds Service Packs, etc. to run your computer smoothly. Perhaps prior to installing IE 7, it may help you in this matter.

Next, make sure you have adequate protection against spam. Some are better than others.

This may help as well, it is possible when using email, you can block a person from e-mailing (writing) to you.
