Hi dmhtwice...

If you haven't installed the operating system yet, run fdisk again and delete the logical partition. Make sure the remaining partition is the Primary DOS partition, that it is set Active, and then format and install Windows.

Sounds like a recovery partition. Is this a branded machine like Dell, compaq, etc...?

Howdy:

Okay, after you wiped the logical drive partition, you should have wiped the Primary DOS partition as well.. That would bring everything back to a single hdd..

Now, run fdisk again and simply set a Primary DOS partition.. Say YES to all questions !!

Once fdisk has finished, you can either use your boot floppy to format the drive or, try booting with the WIN98SE cd and format that way.. Once again, say YES to all questions !!
