Hi there. My name is Shawn, and I live in Osaka. I've my computer just over a month, and already I have viruses cropping up (at least it appears so). To quote Robin Williams, "Pain, suffering, look of cold terror."

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but the problem seemed to crop up when I was running AVG and McAfee simultaneously. I've since uninstalled both and reinstalled AVG.

My virus scanner found several unwanted trojans all with the words "exploit" in the description. From within my anti-virus software, I tried "healing" them, to no avail, and then I tried deleting them, again to no avail. So, finally I quarantined them instead.

Next, I went online and tried to find information on the relevant files. I found no exact matches for the file name, but I *DID* find something that sounded vaguely familiar posted by a geekstogo.com user named jeffga. For what it's worth, his post was located here...

http://www.geekstogo...vp/t132194.html

He was advised to use SDFix.exe. I thought my problem sounded similar, so I thought it would be worth a shot trying to run SDFix.exe. I downloaded and ran the program, but it didn't fix the problem.

Afterwards, I did a virus scan, and the files including "exploit" in the name were still detected. Once more I tried "healing" and "deleting," again to no avail. Finally, since the path of the file was in temporary internet files, I went into Internet Explorer and tried deleting all temporary files (I don't know why I didn't just do this to begin with). When I did a virus scan once more, the exploit files were gone.

However, no sooner had I gotten rid of the trojans/viruses than one of those files with "exploit" in the description came back. I cleared out my temporary files once more, but then different trojans/viruses popped up in their place. I have a feeling that they will continue coming back. Here is the result of my most recent AVG scan...

5 threats found (1 adware, 4 spyware)

1 adware: probably from a free screensaver I downloaded
4 spyware: trackingcookie.yieldmanager, trackingcookie.atdmt, trackingcookie.mediaplex, trackingcookie.doubleclick

Also, I've already consulted the "required steps before posting a log," used ATF cleaner, done system restore, scanned for spyware/adware, installed (and reinstalled) anti-virus software, checked for windows updates, rebooted, and finally run hijackthis.

If anyone has any advice on how I can get rid of these infections, I'd appreciate it.

How might I go about getting rid of these infections and prevent similar ones from coming back?

Here are the results of running hijackthis....

Well, I've been trying to deal with this problem all night, and I'm exhausted (I guess we've all been there at one point or another), so I bid you a good night and humbly thank you for having read this far, whoever you may be.
