How do I register a zip file so that I can open it in WinRAR?

I'm not a very experienced computer guy... and when I recieve a zip file it doesn't have the WinRAR icons like all the others rar, lzh... and when I try to configure how to associate zip files in WinRAR... the checkboxes reset everytime I open up the Options menu... Also I've tried to register the zip filetype in Folder Options>File Types but it doesn't register... somebody help! :whistling:

Right click on the .zip file and go to properties.

Opens With: BlahBlah Click Change

Select WinRar from the list of programs and then put a checkmark next to: Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. Then hit OK.

Or.......

You could uninstall WinRar and then reinstall it making sure that .zip, .rar, etc. are associated with WinRar program.
