Hello. Hoping someone here can help. I am having a problem with my desktop (Compaq Presario 6410nx running Windows XP). This morning when went to use it, it was frozen on my screen saver. I shut it down by holding the power button and when I turned it on this happened:

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this..." My options are:

Start in safe mode.
Safe mode with networking.
Safe mode with command prompt.
Last known good configuration setting (most recent setting that worked).
Start Windows normally.

It won't start in any of these modes..basically just brings me back to the error message. I don't have an XP disk...the system was loaded on the computer when I bought it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure. Might be able to get a copy. Have to ask around.

What if I can't? Can I buy one somewhere?
