When in internet explorer, say if I go to a search engine, in the text box dashes and words appear when I havent even typed anything. This also happens in Outlook express when I am trying to write an e-mail.

Have tried to look for virus and spyware, using Stinger, AVG, a squared, adware, but none of them have found anything.

I also did a disc framentation and that fixed the problem for a while, but then it returned.

Please help!!

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Your logs looks clean. You could try a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Do you have MS Office installed? It has a voice recognition feature that sometimes causes this problem:
