I noticed someone had the same problem that I was having. Norton had picked up Trojan.Peacomm and the instructions were to download AVG Anti-Rootkit Beta and post the results on their next post. I'm not sure if the same would apply to me, but I took those steps myself and nothing came up (if that helps). Here is my hijackthis log....

Double click it to open the program. You will see a window with 4 buttons at the bottom of it. Click Search For Rootkits and the program will start a scan, you will see the progress bar moving from left to right. When the scan is complete, a small window will open alerting you to the result. If anything was found, click Save Result To File and post that in your reply.

If nothing was found, please click the Perform in-depth Search saving anything found to file as before.

Nothing was found in the scan or the in-depth search after I installed the AVG Anti-Rootkit Beta.

My subscription for Norton ran out and I keep getting prompted to renew it. There's a little box that pops up in the bottom right corner saying there's a rapidly spreading threat (the Trojan.Peacomm). I thought it could of been a ploy to get me to renew, but I figured I'd check here to see what someone had to say. Should I be worried or is it nothing?

The threat is relatively new and is real. If you don't have an up to date antivirus program then yes, you should be worried. Whether you stick with Norton or not is your choice but either way you need to protect yourself.

You don't have it. It's Norton's less than subtle way to panic you into renewing. There are a number of free antivirus programs such as AVG and Avast you could install. (Only use one and uninstall Norton first)
