Unmountable Boot Volume is a CHKDSK job.

Boot off your XP CD, press R on the first screen, select your Windows if asked, type your Administrator password (if asked and if set) and type "CHKDSK /p /r" at the prompt. When its finished, type Exit, press Enter, take XP CD out and your computer should work again.
