Try booting into Last Known Good Configuration. While starting your computer tap the F8 key once every second during the memory count up, or during the system spash screen where you see the system maker's name (HP, COMPAQ, DELL....etc.)
This will result in a text based menu. Use the curors/arrorw keys to navigate to Last Known Good Configuration and hit enter.
Did Windows start? If so, all done.
If not, reboot and try Safe Mode.
Other ways to get to safe mode: http://vlaurie.com/c...es/safemode.htm
If you can get Windows to load that way, try a System Restore to a day prior to the problem starting.
Did the restore fix the problem?
If worse comes to worse, we may need to do a Repair Install of Windows. You won't lose any data or files, but will need to reinstall other software you've installed and Windows critical updates and possibly SP2.
