Application error crashes system

Lately when playing games on my machine I get an error message after a while and am forced to terrminate the program. The instruction at 0x240c73f6 referenced memery at 0x50f9095c. The memory could not be read. [color=#000000]From what I have read online I think it is aregistry problem but this is unfamiliar territiry for me. Can anyone help?
