I bought 1 IDE HDD & 1 Laptop HDD from a PC Shop near my house and both were old, they were out of warranty and both went bust within 6months, problem for me now is I got a EZ Cool PSU and I have no idea when it was made, and i am scared it will go bust on me and take my entire PC with it. is there a way I can check it?

I have never had a power supply take out a computer when it fails. Usually a power surge thru the house electrical lines will fry a computer along with the PS . There is no real way to check if a PS is getting weak or about to go out on you. They just usually fail quickly. You can check to see if voltages to the computer is Ok with a program like speedfan.
