Have you ran spyware/virus scans lately?

Try an online scan (provided you can get online).

These are all good online scans:

http://support.micro....com/kb/283807/

but you should back-up registry

the 2 registry keys that are mentioned

Click the Start button, then click Run. The Run window opens.
Type REGEDIT, then click OK. The Registry Editor opens.
Choose Registrykey highlight it by cicking on it...HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension , then right click it and Export Registry File.
Verify the following entries in the Export Registry File Dialog Box:
Save in: Desktop
File Name: Registry Backup
do the same for this registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\MIME
Click Save.
Exit the Registry Editor.
Verify you have an icon titled REGISTRY BACKUP.REG on the Desktop.

if you feel uncomfortable with the registry then dont do it
