I was wondering what the minimum msconfig settings are so that your computer runs fine, can access the internet, games etc fine, but not all the other hassles. I say this because whenever i try something significantly memory consuming my computer craps out on me.(shuts down) ty

If you use msconfig / start up, you need to leave the firewall, anti virus and any anti spyware programmes ticked. If you remove any ticks, click apply and reboot, then check those are running

The problem may be elsewhere, so reboot the PC, right click the taskbar, click task manager, click processes

Although the programmes have loaded, they should not be using much

Run a couple of programmes then close them, then check task manager, processes to see they have stopped using resources

Also check the memory
