have you tried using the Windows search tool, as there are several temp folders in Windows XP (though only one in the Windows folder I must admit) ? -- Choose "All files and folders" from the "What do want to search for?"make sure you set the "advanced options" to include system folders, hidden files/folders, and sub-folders. (as it's just possible the file is normally hidden).
Type filename (including the '.tmp' extension) in the top search field.
Be sure to type filename correctly as spelled in the defrag message.
Click "search" button.

The file may be hidden.
Go to Control Panel >Folder Options >View
Select "Show hidden files and folders"
Also, deselect "Hide protected operating system files"
That should allow you to see the file.
To delete .tmp files Right Click the Hard Drive >Disk Cleanup >Select Temporary Files >OK
Go to Control Panel >Folder Options >View
Select "Show hidden files and folders"
Also, deselect "Hide protected operating system files"
That should allow you to see the file.
To delete .tmp files Right Click the Hard Drive >Disk Cleanup >Select Temporary Files >OK

Yeah I tried both of those things right off. As I said before, I searched for the file, and files types (including hidden files and folders). I'm already displaying hidden files/folders and it doesn't show up.

My friend told me to boot up in safe mode, and delete the temp file all together because there's nothing in there I need (if there is then the comp will put it back on there). What only was showing a file with 2Kb worth of files cleaned up over 1Gb of HDD space. My problem is solved, but I am still wondering why I couldn't see the files...oh well
