Hello,

I just received a phone call from my friend and his computer sytem wont boot up. He has windows XP. He said he tried booting up and all he gets is a black screen with white writing that says "We apalogize for the inconvenience but windows did not sucessfully start. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this".

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Try hitting the F8 key while the computer is starting up and get into safe mode, there you may be able to use restore to go back to a previous known good date.

If able to get into safe mode, where would I find restore? Is this the same as system restore?

Thanks,
