Hi there. I've not been able to get access to the computer as I'm currently at college. The websoundfix program doesn't seem to have worked. I've redone the virus scanner thing you taught me again and it found no viruses, yet there's still no sound in webpages. I've even reset all IE settings back to 'Factory Settings' and still no luck. Sound plays in all other environments so I'm pretty sure this is a malware or software problem. Here's a new HJT log in case something has creeped back up again to destroy my sound playing.

It is definitely not a malware problem.

Before we start chasing down another option, I want to make sure that you did the reg fix I posted correctly.

Did you unzip the websoundfix.zip file to extract the websoundfix.reg file before you ran it?

Did you get the dialogue box asking for confirmation to add the file to the registry when you ran it?

Hello again. The answer to all your questions above is 'yes', I've ran the test again and still no luck. I wondered if it could possibly be a registry problem and if running a registry fix program would help solve the problem? If so, do you know of any good programs for doing this? Thank you :whistling:

That is what we just did. We ran a registry fix.

Try updating Adobe Flash Player:

http://www.adobe.com...ts/flashplayer/

Click the "Download Now" button below "Get Flash Player 9"

Download it and install it then try the web for sounds.

Hi there. Sorry for the long delay in replying. I think I'll just give up with this one and format the hard drive and reinstall everything I need. Thanks for all your help - you've been excellent!
