So how do I make the PC realize there is only one operating system so it does not ask which one to boot from anymore?

You need to remove the redundant line referring to Vista in the BOOT.INI file.
Easiest way to do that is by using MS Configuration Editor built in to Windows.

I tired that it did not work. Told me all paths appeared valid.
Windows Vista does not even show up in the BOOT.INI file??
But it's still an option when I reboot?
