Hi -=blaster=-,
Thanks, cool that means I wasn't going blind after all. So what is the scr directory? I just picked up a second hand machine at the local GoodWill store so I might do just that IF I can find out what kind of machine it is.
Thanks,
Wendy

/scr/ is just another directory used by some linux systems.
Once you get linux up and running, head over to Howtoforge for information on installing a LAMP server. Linux, Apache, MySQL, and php for your operating system. I prefer the Red Hat distros, Fedora and CentOS.
N00b1, your runon sentence is worse than warriorscot's.
Please use a "." every once in a while.

Hi N00b1,
Thanks for your input Boo. I've looked into a couple of those packages that come with lots of stuff that is all preconfigured to work with each other like wamp5 but I'm kind of wanting to learn how to make these things work together myself.
I must admit that it's kind of a challenge to set them up yourself but for my part I get all happy and go have a cup of coffee whenever I get something to work by doing it myself. Who knows though, after I get through pulling all of my hair out I just might fall off and download wamp5.
Hi -=blaster=- Thinks for your reply. Hey don't go picking on anyone for leaving those stupid little dots off of the end of their sentences like that. Heck, I'm not that politically correct myself at times either Boo.
Thanks for the info on the scr thingy, I was kind of thinking that might have been the case but I wasn't really sure. Heck before I can do anything with that other box I have to find someone who can tell me what kind of PC it is or at least tell me a little something about it.
Thanks,
Wendy

Hi Major Payne,
Hey I use so many of those things that I get my aspirins by the case at Sam's Club. Don't knock yourself for not being to get me all fixed up. You pointed me at some pretty good reading and that counts a lot.
Actually I think that I have figured out the answer to my original question. It's sounds to me like the line Listen 127.0.0.1:80 would be what binds the server to the localhost and thereby keeps it from being publicly accessible. Is that right or have I misunderstood what I've been reading?
Hi thenotch,
Thanks for the reply. It's the latter of the two. I PMed you on the subject.
Thanks,
Wendy
