[NYYankeees133B]

I have the RTM version of Windows Vista Ultimate running the 64-bit version. Everything has been going good then the lat few days my computer has been running at 100% computer usage. I scanned with many programs but my main firewall/virus scan found 2 high risk Trojans in which it got rid of but im still having issues. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

UPDATE: I fixed the computer usage problem but now my computer has found Smith fraud and others I think I may have fixed it but I just wanted to post a log just in case its still lurking around somewhere or if theres other viruses still present. Please Help. Thanks.

Everything seems to be going good now except when I start my computer from the welcome screen it goes to a black screen with the arrow and its takes about a half a minute sometimes longer waiting for the black screen to disappear and the desktop to load.

Sorry for the late reply, but we don't have a lot of folks here that are familiar with Vista. Add to that the fact that most of our tools don't work with Vista and that you have the 64 bit edition complicates things even more.

Do you still need help with this? If so, I'll be glad to see what I can do.

Let me ask, is this an upgrade from XP to Vista or did you do do a clean install of Vista?

I originally did a clean install but I've been having problems from day one so I just reinstalled Vista x64 last night and it seems to be running fine but I'm still getting a black screen at boot that takes about a half a minute to load the desktop I'm thinking a program I have is slowing it down. I guess Ill post a log to see if its clean your help is greatly appreciated.

This log looks fine.

I'm not sure what would be causing the bootup delay. You do have quite a bit loading at startup there. I'd start off by disabling some of those startups. A lot of what you have loading there is unnecessary.

You can look up the startups at the following links to help determine what is needed and what is not:

** Note: The startups are represented by the O4 entries in your Hijack This log like this one:

Look them up at those links by copying and pasting the name in the brackets (as bolded in the example above QuickTime Task) in the search box on the Startuplist (Castlecops) and Startup Programs Database (Bleepingcomputer) pages. Read the Usage Instructions/information that tells you how to use the pages and identify what to remove and what not to remove. For example, it tells you that if you see a "Y" under the Status column for startup entry it means Yes that entry is normally needed to run at startup. "N" under status means No it is not needed to run at startup and you should disable it. "X" means that it is definitely not needed and usually the Xs are malware. There is more info on those pages that tell you how to use the lists so please read that before you begin disabling startups.

I tried all of the suggestions but still no luck I disabled every program that is not needed at startup and I still got the long startup but I noticed in the last few days when it starts it goes to a pink screen for about a half a minute and then loads the desktop. Any further help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but I haven't had any time to look into this this weekend. I'm going to be tied up the rest of today and won't have any more time to look into this until tomorrow evening after work.

Since this is no longer a malware issue, please start a new topic in the Vista forum so we can get more input on this.

Let me know when you have that thread started and I'll look at it. Be sure you make it clear that we have determined that there is no malware present at this time.
