Hi - I've just installed BT homehub to get wireless in my house, but it required me to uninstall Norton security as it had this included in the package. I tried to uninstall out norton but an error msg came up and then just shut the computer down. Now when i start it up the computer takes AGES to startup and then it flashed 10 times on the login/user page and doesn't enter windows. Can anyone help? I've tried safe mode but it won't allow me to go into there, it just switches back to trying to get into windows!

Thanks Keith - i've just tried all you said but once i've clicked on Safe Mode Comand Prompt, it goes onto another screen to select OS and then just restarts back into XP? There is no command prompt to type anything into??

Can you remove the lead for the modem and try

You can use this guide to repair XP

Possibly, you will need to press the power button and keep tapping the delete key, (possibly F2) until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, load the XP CD then type Y then press enter, as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

You will need your XP product key to complete this

The XP Product Key is a 25 character alpha numerical code, which does not include the sequence OEM

If you have audio / video files which are subject to DRM you should check with the provider for known issues with performing an XP repair install
