Hi there. Have been here before, appreciate the help. I have been having "issues" since last Friday. Firefox was running very very slow, and then IE. I checked all extentions, etc. ran multiple scans, scoured my computer... can't figure out what is going on but it seems fishy. Here are my logs and thank you in advance.

Hello Sara and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

ALL staff here at Geeks To Go are volunteers, please bear that in mind if I don’t answer your post quickly; I give what time I can.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions! (Click the Options drop down near the upper right of the topic. Select Print this topic.)

You have a Trojan. Let’s see what we can do.

Please open Spybot S & D, and turn off Resident Teatimer. Do this by clicking Mode at the top of the screen, choose Advanced Mode then Tools and then Resident and unchecking Teatimer. It will hinder our attempts to clear out some files that need to be removed.

Also please disable AVGas Guard from running for the same reason. Right click on the multicoloured icon with an S, in the taskbar (near the clock) and uncheck Resident Shield. The icon will change to a grey colour.

When your PC has been declared clean, please only enable one of those two programmes to run in real-time. All others should be used as “on demand” scanners. Having more than one antispyware programme running in real-time will cause slowness and even conflicts.

Please download SDFix and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear.
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Using Windows Explorer, please delete these files:

c:\windows\system32\datastore.dll
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.bho
c:\keys.ini
c:\windows\sepsd.bin
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.

Hello again

Is this your ISP: AdMission Corporation, ADMIS, 3000 Executive Parkway, Suite 150, San Ramon, CA, 94583, US ?

Please delete your temporary files.

Click on START > RUN > type in cleanmgr and hit ENTER

You will see a window asking you to choose your harddrive (most likely C: Drive)

Click it and Windows will now scan the drive and show you the results

Make sure the following are checked:Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Compress Old Files (if you want more disk space)

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Next, go to Start>Run>type in %temp% hit Enter and delete the content of all the temp folders shown (only the content, not the folder). A couple of files may be in memory and will not therefore delete, this is normal.

Your HJT log looks good. How is the PC running now?
