I have got such problems with my XP Home taking 5 mins to boot, and 75% of the time refusing to boot with STOP ERRORs that I am thinking of formatting and trying again.

I might - just might - opt to install Vista but I have one big worry: I use Fireworkz for Windows as my word processor and spreadsheet, all my archives are in its format and I don't want to stop using it. However, it is a 16 bit program.

Will 16 bit programs run under Vista?

TIA

HP Pavilion, 3.2GHz P4, 2.5GB RAM, 160GB HD.

16-bit program are supported by 32-bit Vista, but will not work with 64-bit Vista.
