Sounds like he doesn't have things hooked up correctly. With DSL, that should NOT be happening.

Do you have your DSL filters are not attached correctly. Does he hear a little static when he picks up?

yeah just a little after we reconected thins a bit ago. it wasn't like that before. the only things was when someone called the internet would disconnect. i had a filter on every line. now i just don't know what to do. the phone line is external and not internal because i needed the one with the data wires(yellow and black). everything was working fine except the disconnection issue like i said. can anyone help me out with step by step instructions?

It sounds like a faulty filter.. is this on every phone?
