My computer freezes

when I open My Computer it freezes and stops every thing. Then if i let it sit for 5 mins it will close My Computer by its self and every thing except My Computer works again. i have no idea what is going on and i dont know how to fix it. it all started when i put Neverwinter nights on a virtual drive.
anyone have any ideas? thanks
