Internet issue

I have a problem with both internet explorer 6.0 and outlook express. Occasionally, both of these will pause for about twenty seconds and do nothing. Then, both will start working again. I have run all my spyware and antivirus stuff, but nothing. I ran hijack this and will post my log below. Both ie and oe pause/freeze at the same time and start working again at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.


PS I have windows 98 and use yahoo SBC DSL, my windows xp machine has no problem.

There are quite a few things that could cause this issue.
1. Go to Internet Options: on the general tab/temporary internet files/settings; make sure that you do not have the amount of disk space to use set above 125MB.

2. Internet Options: Connections tab click the 'lan settings' button and make sure that absolutely nothing is check marked.

3. You have an awful lot of programs that use the internet running in the background. You may want to consider using msconfig to stop them.

4. You have installed the sbc yahoo software. ABSOLUTELY no software from sbc is necessary for internet connectivity with the 2wire. Your 2 wire is a router/modem and it handles the connection not the computer.

5. Consider using Firefox, see if it exhibits same issue. It most likely will not.

Thanks for your quick response. I checked those things, fixed the temp internet files, and uninstalled sbc yahoo stuff. I am unsure how to use msconfig to stop the internet stuff to which you referred (step 3). I don't need the trendmicro housecall stuff or yahoo. My internet still lags in internet explorer, so I am going to try Firefox. Thanks for your help.
