Flight Simulator X downloading problems

Hi, i was recently giving flight simulator x as a gift and really looked forward to play it. But unfortunately, i cannot download it. When i insert the disk *PC DVD*, in either my CD or DVD drive, nothing pops up or appears. I have tried the control panel/add or remove programs/add cd/floppy, but this didn't work. Supposidely, i have the right requirements because i took a system test on microsft's website for the game. Any suggestions? i really wanna play this game, thanks
