Hi, I live in the Bay Area and use SBC Yahoo DSL. My problem is that my internet service is choppy. I use the internet for downloading large files, gaming, and internet browsing and I notice periods of no or very slow service. For example, I will be playing a game online and my ping will be 25-30, then for a two minute period my ping will be 1600 and then go back to normal. Same for web browsing, the computer will be loading web pages and images at a normal rate, then go very very slowly for two minutes before it returns to normal.

As you can imagine this is quite an annoyance. These two minute long outages happen about once every 15-20 minutes. Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them, what may be causing it, or any possible solutions? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a problem with your DSL. Next time you experience the high pings, run a tracecert, and send it to your Interenet service provider.
