hello's

I Just a brand new hard-drive. My last one died..

Anyways, I began by downloading some internet security programs.

SpyBot SD
Adaware
Zone Alarm

and also FireFox Browser

I am not able to access many sites with Internet explorer.. I wold tell yo what version I have but i cant remember how to check my version..

For Instance. I cannot access my gmail in Java mode with explorer.. Also I cant download anything from any sites in explorer.

On the other hand. I am able to access Gmail and all sites with Firefox..

with Explorer I often get "unable to rn Active X controls on this page" and am unable to click on the toolbar to allow the activeX to run..
I have downloaded Java again to try to remecy that but that hasnt worked..

I have also tried to find a security/privacy setting on explorer that would let me se ActiveX / Java but . No luck ................

I have also looked at my Zone alarm but havent found anything there

Can someone please help me get my Explorer and Internet security settings set up correctly so that explorer will work properly

thanks,

Ed

Hi:

First try resetting the defaults under the Security/Privacy/Advanced tabs and see if that works. You may have to restart IE or re-boot.

There's a possibility that your firewall is blocking you. Have you checked settings in ZA under Program Control or the Firewall Zones? I use the free ZA and there are probably other settings you could try such as the Popup and Ad blockers. To find version of most applications, click the Help menu and the the About...whatever the app name is. Did you reset your setting to Defaults as explained in post #5?
