Blue Screen and Windows Errors :(

Lately, I have been getting blue screens that say "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." The Tech info of the error is: STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XF43385E9, 0XB8D47A28, 0X00000000) system32:lzx32.sys - Address F43385E9 base at F4336000, DateStamp 45abe717

My computer is a Dell Inspiron E1705 with Windows XP Media Home Edition.

Today, everytime I restart, the blue screen occurs within 5 minutes after the startup, and it is now happeneing everytime i start up the computer (which is now why i am using my dektop to type this and figure out how to fix my laptop).

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Change your Bios to BOOT TO DISK and instert your XP cd. (The BIOS can normally be accessed when you start your computer. You may see a reference to "Setup" when you turn your computer on. That’s your opportunity to get into the BIOS. It usually requires the push of a function key, such as F10, to get access to it. That "F" key varies between computers. Sometimes it’s not even one of the Function keys, but the ESC key or DEL key.) ((once your there you use the + and - keys to move up the device you want to boot from, so highlight your drive with the arrow keys then keep pressing + untill its the first one)

Then when you follow the steps you want to repair existing windows.

after completing that if you still have a problem you need to repeat the steps before but instead of repair you need to install it.

i thought of doing that, but Windows XP Media Edition doesnt come with install cds :whistling:. They instead suggest a computer system restore.

I was looking that file up, you better go to the malware forum and post a HiJackThis log. It is considered to be a Trojan

If you can remember the last time you used the computer without a problem then i suggest you follow there suggestion and restore to that time, hopefully there will be a restore point.

how stupid is it that media edition dosent come with cds? surly you can download something of the microsoft site by quoting a serial number or something? how did u install it first off?

replying teleblock 4u's post: the computer came with the windows already installed. When i got the computer, it came with a small piece of paper that reads: "Your new computer does not require an operating system CD or drivers CDs. Instead, if you ever need to reinstall your software, use one of the following methods

1. Microsoft Windows System Restore returns your computer to an earlier operating state without affecting your data files. For more information, double-click the documentation icon on your desktop.

2. Dell PC Restore and Norton Ghost 10 (optional) provide you with advanced restore capabilities.

im going with slacker here.

ive also looked it up and it appears to be malware, im not to good on that topic so ill leave it to slacker. goodluck hope you fix it :whistling:
