My dad recently bought a laptop computer used from someone. It worked fine until he created a new account with his name and made it the admin account. now, every time i try to log into his account (we still have the password) it logs in as normal, but in about 2 or 3 seconds, I get a BSOD saying something like "the crash was caused by ar5111.sys"

I can't be sure exactly what it says because after flashing the BSOD for a literal second, it starts to reboot.

I can log on to the other account fine, but now that account is a Limited Account and i can not do anything with it.

I'm thinking I might have to do a hard reset (reinstall the OS, Windows XP SP2)...no data was stored so no data will be lost...can someone help me with this?

thanks,

If full format/install is a viable option, and data loss is not an issue, I would think that it is the best approach. Of course, updates will need to be applied.
