Alright my computer is a HP laptop that I've had for about 7 months. It all started a week or two ago when I experienced the following problems:
- Although none of my files were deleted, my computer seemed to have reset itself if that makes any sense. Programs such as Microsoft Works and Windows Media Player acted as if I had never used them before (needed to agree to terms of services, etc.) All my games such as Hearts, Free Cell, and Minesweeper had their high scores reset.
- iTunes no longer recognized discs when I inserted them
- When I put in DVDs or CDs the box that pops up asking if I'd like to play or rip them still popped up but no longer displayed any options
- An identity log-in box kept popping up every hour or two, which apparently has something to do with Outlook Express. The weird thing is I had never used Outlook before.
- The Start Menu had the default programs in its lists
Obviously these are minor problems so I just decided to live with them. Then today I opened my laptop and discovered "My Pictures" was missing. The last time I had looked at them was the night before and no one had access to my computer. So I searched all of my folders using the search option looking in hidden folders and everything, however I could still not find My Pictures. Then I decided to do a system restore, which seemed to solve all the minor problems listed above, however it did not recover My Pictures. I'm 99% positive I did not delete the folder because it is about 4 GBs so I would have noticed it being deleted and further it would have been hard to accidentally delete all of those files. So I've come to the conclusion I have some type of malware or virus screwing with me.

I know I just sound like some idiot that accidentally moved or deleted My Pictures, however I find that extremely unlikely. Plus with my computer sort of reseting itself, everything just does not seem right.
