Can't open maximized with IE7

When ever I go to a page (News, google, etc) it opens to fill about half the screen. I then have to maximize by the corner button or by dragging the edges. But if I close and reopen its back to half-screen. Not that way with Firefox. Whats wrong with IE? Using XP.

Before you open IE again, right-click on the Icon you use and select Properties. At the " Run: " drop down window select maximize. See if that will work for you.
