Im about to buy a new 1gb stick of ram, and ive noticed that the more expensive ram sticks all have heat spreaders? What exactly does a heat spreader do, spread heat? what good would that do? Do you think its worth the $$?

Unless your overclocking no. Also, most of these are more expensive as a result of the higher timings, it doesn't only rest on the fact that it has heat spreaders. Unless your really hard core don't worry about it.
