I just got my new dell laptop and it had vista on it. I hate Vista. I also have an old restoration disk from dell that has xp pro on it. I loaded XP pro from the resto disk over the vista last night and have no recieved a "30 days to register" prompt. Should I be worried? By that I mean, load all of my programs and then not have the key to enter and have all my hard work goto waste?

Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS....then click on Activate Windows....see what pops up.

If you used the key from whatever box that restoration CD came with, it should be fine, but not likely going to work.

If you haven't activated yet, its just a matter of time before it will ask.
