Howdy:

What is the make and model of your monitor?

Also, what resolution setting are you trying to go to?

It is very possible your monitor doesn't support that setting or you may have to change the refresh rate.

Could be...

1.) your graphics card doesn't do well on that resolution
2.) you need to up your monitor refresh rate
3.) your monitor doesn't do well on that resolution

Need the model number as well. It will be something like L1980Q.

Have you tried upping the refresh rate to 75?

Don't do it just yet until we know for sure your monitor can handle it.

Also, do you know the make and model of your video card?

Okay. That particular monitor will go to as high as 1280 x 1024 Maximum resolution.

I see you are running onboard video which could be your problem. The best resolution your vid card will give for 3d applications is 1024x768 at 16 bit color. If everything you do is 2d then you should be able to get away with upping your refresh rate a tad.

Got another monitor you can try? Maybe it's going out or it's getting old.
