I get that on the BSoD when i try to load some of my games. yet other older games work great. what is this message?

That particular error message could mean either bad ram or bad drivers. Did you add any hardware lately or update any drivers?

everything is basicly brand new. i put this thing together at the beginning of the month. if you need it, i can list all the parts i used in the build. all were bought brand new.

Wouldn't be the first time someone got a dud piece of hardware off the shelf.

Again, are the drivers up to date? Have you ran a memtest program to test your ram?

yep. memtest came back fine. videocard,soundcard,and windows are up to date.

The Beep Code info would have been nice right away.

If you have AMI BIOS (check to make sure)..

2 Short Beeps Your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

3 Short Beeps Basically the same thing as 2 beeps. Follow that diagnosis above

i can't switch them as i only have one bank of memory. so my MB is bad? but if that was bad, wouldn't it die on startup instead of only in some games, (other games work fine)

Could also be your vid card. The games put more of a stress on it.

I do know the video card gets VERY hot. it only has a heatsink, no fan. i do plan to upgrade to a better card. so that's what's causing it?

Very possible. Especially if you are using AMI BIOS, the beep code is a fairly good indicator. Even the fix says to check the video first.

yea, it's AMI bios. i shoulda known a vid card with just a heatsink would give me trouble, as i am a HEAVY gamer. older games work great. but games like Flight Sim 2004 crash to a BSoD after less then a minute.

Well. now i'm getting 1 longer beep at startup. all i did was pull the side panel off and aim a desk type fan into the case. what does one long beep mean? and speedfan shows my temps at

Temp1: 14C
Temp2: 33C
Temp3: 114C
HD0: 30C

No 1 long beep error code showing for AMI but that one temp has me worried. Does Speedfan say what Temp3 relates to?

Try going to Start> Control Panel> Display Properties> Settings tab> Advanced button> Troubleshoot tab> Move the Hardware Acceleration slider toward None. See if you continue to get the errors.

This could be a problem with GDI+ which was fixed with later updates. Make sure you are fully updated to SP2 and beyond.
