Quite often lately, it sounds like a fan running at high speed. It starts doing it and then it will stop. there's no particular thing that will set it off, just does it. Could it be that the tower should be cleaned? If so, what steps should I take to do this?

Thank you

deffinitely clean the gremlins out of the case....get yourself some canned air from the computer or office supply store...turn off and unplug your computer...open up the case and start to blow the dust bunnies out...make sure to hold the fans still as letting them spin freelly could burn out their bearings and break them...then put everything back together and plug it back in...see if the fans spin up less often
