Gah, Every Time I Attemp to Open 4+ Applications..

Title is self- explanitory, I'm having trouble keeping my computer from shutting down and restarting. Every time I open something Java, I get an error message and my browser closes, and the computer reboots. I have little computer experience, so could someone here assist me?

I'm running on Windows 200 Professional.
