I have read all the instructions on the forum and followed them. Used Adware SE, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, CW shredder, Spysubtract. I did have the "elite toolbar" but used the ET remover to rid of it. I read through a different (Annoying Search Miracle) and tried all the steps, but some of the files you suggested to delete were not present on my system. I have done some manual removal of things in the registry. I think I have rid the Bman file that would always be running when I opened task manager. The miracle search popups are much less frequent, but still come up randomly. I have disabled IE by putting in fake proxy settings. Now using Firefox (which is great by the way). Anyway, if you need more let me know here is my hijack log.

I need you to download a few items that you will need later.

http://housecall.antivirus.com/ (use IE to download)

http://www.moosoft.com/

Download - Home Page
  • You are running HijackThis from its zipped archive; please create a new folder for it and unzip the program into it. It is very important you do this before anything else!

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\wintask.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\JYMGDLL.EXE
    C:\WINDOWS\MJGLENC.EXE
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\tempdl\Terp03292005.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dso2cqag.exe
    c:\windows\system32\clqucac.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://bhcdc1/practicemanager

Turn off system restore. Do not turn it back on until we get it clean. ;)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

How to Turn On and Turn Off System Restore in Windows XP
http://support.micro...kb;en-us;310405

Run hijack this and put check marks next to these.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O2 - BHO: BolgerObj Class - {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410} - C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kicsmad] c:\windows\system32\yazpcvb.exe

Reboot into safe mode and find these files and delete them.

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
c:\windows\system32\yazpcvb.exe

Clean out your temp. files. Reboot and post a new log. :tazz:

Before we begin

The latest version of Killbox is now at 2.0.0.175

Download the latest version of killbox (2.0.0.175) available:
http://www.downloads...org/KillBox.zip
http://www.atribune....ads/KillBox.exe

Copy a list of paths & filenames to the clipboard. In the Killbox,
Go to the toolbar to File> Paste from clipboard.

Press the button. The entire list will be processed.

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
c:\windows\system32\vfzbayc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll

Click 'Exit' when done.
Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

You will probably get a message about file missing upon reboot.(we want that to happen)

Scan again with HijackThis and fix the following entries if present.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = *.microsoft.com
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O2 - BHO: BolgerObj Class - {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410} - C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cypgiz] c:\windows\system32\vfzbayc.exe

I want you to scan withPanda scan

Reboot, and post a new HJThis log. :tazz:

OK. :tazz: Got the above instructions completed. I did the Pandascan but couldn't find any "fix" button. I saw it corrected a couple of items and made a log of the rest. So I will pog the HJ log and then the Panda log under it.
Also, I have the Microsoft Spyware blocker on and a few times it has blocked a bolger file and wewtpfc.exe file (From TODO) from trying to install. I am now getting "Aurora" pop ups. Can't tell you how much I appreciate all this. Sure is a mess all this junk.
Here is the HJ:

Download & install the 30 day free trial of the trojan scan, update it manually as described here http://tds.diamondcs...php?page=update as the trial version doesn't have auto update enabled

then press scan control & tick all the little boxes in the bottom part of that window, press save configuration and then close that window by pressing the red X in top right corner, then select system testing and select full system scan

OK, did the TDS scan. Here is another HJ log. Everything "seems" to be running smooth. No pop ups or anything. If the log looks good and we have erraticated the junk. What programs should I maintain on the system in regards to protection? The microsoft and one other have a "blocker" function. SHould I keep these on all the time? How often would you recommend scanning and such. Thank you. The only concern is this computer is an old one, not alot of processor or HD, so I would like to rid the programs I don't need continually. Thanks again, you have been an incredible resource.

I would suggest disabling Microsoft Anti-Spyware.

Click Start > Run > type services.msc, then click OK
Scroll down and right click on 'COM+ System Service'
Select 'Properties' and set the "Service Status" option to "Stop"
Set "Startup type" to "Disabled", click Apply, then OK.

Also disable Spysubstract.

Make sure system restore is still off.

Please download Ad-aware SE - Download - Home Page
  • Don't run it yet.

Run Hijack This and put a check mark next to it.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Visual Element FX5] C:\WINDOWS\tempdl\Terp03292005.exe

Reboot into safe mode. and find this folder and delete it.

    C:\WINDOWS\tempdl\
    <<entire folder
