I am not sure if this belongs here or not, but a day or two ago my Compaq Presario X6000 lap top started getting vertical lines on the screen, and I dont know really what or if there is anything that I can do to remedy this.
I tried a search and came up empty.

so far I have 2 lines, and needless to say I'm not stoked.

thanx TI

If you start the PC in safe mode, do you get the vertical lines, if not, re-installing or updating the video card software is a good start

There are several different coloured vertical lines on my Compaq Presario M2000 too, plus a shaded area which is also vertical on the left hand side of the screen, about 2 inches wide,I have heard that it could be loose screen cable connection, but I haven't investigated as yet,can anyone comment on this before I take action.
cheers
Nik

Hi,
Please try to remove the existing video drivers and download and install latest video dirvers from manufacturers website. If this does not work. Please contact your machine manufacturer, as it seems to be graphics chip problem.
