I just bought a 320 gb hard drive and im wonder how big to make the Vista ultimate partition????? Any ideas

Minimum system requirements for Vista Ultimate are a 20GB drive with 15GB free.
Obviously you'll need more space than this for programs etc as well. Personally, I would make the Vista partition about 100GB max, then in the remaining 220GB, depending on what sort of thing you use the computer for, create a couple more partitions for downloads, music, work, CD/DVD images or cache space, etc.
