docking station - plug and play

Hi
Dell Latitude X300
1) When I shutdown the computer, there is inactive Standby option On the shutdown window. How can I make it active?
2) How can I set the computer to go to standby mode when I close the lid.
3)When I want to remove the laptop from the docking station I get the following message:
You cannot eject your computer because the service VGA display controller which controls one of the devices in the docking station, does not support plug and play and cannot be stopped.
Does fixing this require hardware addition or is it requiring a software/driver download?
