Lag after win xp pro reinstallation

Hello new to this website, so

Synopsis: Reinstalled Xp pro major CPU usage for basic things
lag internet lag everything


Reinstalled Windows XP Professional, installed all updates auto updater said (SP Two current) and the computer is lagging bad since re installation. in everything internet, programs, etc

Specs
Dell 4700
Cpu- Intel core 2 duo (2.8 Ghz) per core
Windows Xp Proffesional (5.1, build 2600)

How long after the Reinstall did the lag happen?

What Programs have you installed?

What data have you put on the computer?

What have you done sence the reinstall?

Thanks for the reply,

the lag i noticed after windows service pack two was installed although this could be attributed to that was the first thing i did was install the update. Installed drivers from resource cd installed iolo systemmechanic. other then have done nothing.

What happens is you uninstall SP2 in add/remove programs.

Well unistalled service pack two lag gone however took 4 min to boot windows and when i did there was not start menu and the only way i could get on was because i had an internet icon on the desktop.
Could not move icons going to try reinstalling sp2

just wanted to add, try updating your video cards drivers. when you say lag is it when you try to scroll? try updating them, i have the same problem every time
