I use Charter high speed to connect to the internet. My computer says that it's running at 10 mbps, which is what it's supposed to do.

I'm running Windows XP SP2. This problem is about a month old.

When I try to connect to the web, via ie 7, Firefox 1.5.0.11, or Opera 9.01, my first attempt will often time out. Usually when I click the "Try Again" button in Firefox, or do the analagous action in the other browswers, the connection opens immediately. But very frequently, I have to go through doing it twice, as I've just described.

I run ZoneAlarm, but I've had it for a long time, and this issue is pretty new ('bout a month).

Other apps don't seem to be effected by this; they run just like they always have, as far as I can tell.

Please advise. And please tell me if I've posted this in the wrong place.

Thank you!

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
