[confusedny]

I have 3 computers, one PC and 2 laptops. Every time I tried to go online using my broadband (DSL) connection, I kept getting the message "Page cannot be displayed". When I clicked Refresh, I am able to see the page and get online. I ran SpySubtract (intermute.com) and Trojan.se appeared on ALL 3 computers. I clicked to clean it and while doing so the SpySubtract froze. I re-ran SpySubtract but nothing showed up. I ran McAfee virus scan (part of McAfee Internet Seucrity Suite 6.0), nothing showed up. I ran McAfee's Anti-Spyware, nothing showed up. I installed and ran the programs listed on your "You Must Read This Before Posting a Hijackthis Log" and a few problems showed up, which I cleaned. On all 3 computers a file known as install.wse.exe was found and removed. Though the computers are working better, I still get the message "Page cannot be displayed" from time to time. What else can I do?

Download 'SpSeHjfix' to the desktop.
Rightclick a blank part of the desktop and select new folder, call it ‘spfix’.
Unzip the file into that folder.

Disconnect from the net and Close ALL OPEN PROGRAMS.
Run 'SpSeHjfix' and click on "Start Disinfection".
When it's finished it will reboot your computer to finish the cleaning process.
The tool creates a log of the fix which will appear in the folder.

If it doesn't find any of the SE files or any hidden reinstallers, it will say system clean and not go on to next stage.

Now run the CWShredder - Hit The FIX button!

Reboot and post a fresh log using HijackThis and the log that was created by 'SpSeHjfix'.

When I click the link, I am taken to the information for the Gateway PC. Unfortunately, the link you told me to delete does not appear on the information for the Northstar PC. The 016 - DPF file on the Northstar reads as O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab and does not show http://207.188.7.150, etc. as on the Gateway. What to do?

By the way, I deleted the install.wse.exe. You say it's for a HP scan. I don't have an HP scanner any longer but do have an HP printer. Let's hope deleting the file does not create problems. I deleted the file since TDS-3 was so sure it was no good!

It appears topic 15766 abd 15767 have somehow been linked. 15766 should have been the Gateway PC while 15767 is the Northstar latpop.

By the way, since I no longer have AT&T, Road Runner (RR) or Symantec products, can I delete 09 Extra button, 016 help.rr.com, 016 http://security.symantec, etc.?  If the file says shared is it better to keep it?

I'd advise you to uninstall the products using the software panel or the uninstallers that came with the programs.

The Symantec, RR and AT&T messages I mentioned that appeared in the HijackThis log for the Gateway were left behind AFTER I used the uninstaller that can with those softwares. Could be that these files were listed as shared and I clicked NOT to delete in case other programs needed them?????

If these are just leftovers, you can fix them using HijackThis. Except for the lines 023.
For those:
Open HijackThis.
Choose 'scan' mark the entries. Press 'fix checked'
Go to 'config'
Go to 'misc tools'
Click the 'Delete an NT Service' button.
Paste in the service name or whatever is shown between the quotes and click OK.
Then close HijackThis and reboot.

Check your disks for leftover files and folders and delete them.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
