Recently switched from satellite to DSL and immediately noticed that Internet Explorer will no longer connect to the internet. Contacted my service provider, of course... was talked thru a few procedures finally ending with reinstalling IE.... none of which worked. I am able to connect only through FireFox.
I did all of the malware scans recommended on your site save for Panda Activescan as it requires IE. Remove around 400 malware files ( wow ! ) , my system is running much faster and smoother. ( Thank you !) But IE will still not connect. This is the message I get upon opening IE.

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

I have tried different websites.
I would truly appreciate any help you could give me ! I have the scan logs from the malware scans if you need them.

Have you got the box checked to detect connections automatically in Internet Options/Connections tab/LAN settings? Or try running Network Setup Wizard. Set up for DSL should be in CD or online instructions for your unit. FF always seems to be the "smart" one. LOL Do you have latest version of IE? Also, check your Firewall for IE access under new DSL.

Thank you for your attention. These things are actually what my isp provider had me try...to no avail. I am noticing that when I open IE ... the address for my homepage .. msn ... changes to
http://go.microsoft....k/?LinkId=74005 - Does that mean I still have malware?

Not sure about the link you gave. Copied/pasted it in browser window, but nothing opened for me. I would recommend going back to the Malware Section, explain in a post that you have followed all the malware removal steps and post a HiJackThis log if asked. They will be able to examine the log in more detain and give you expert help about any malware problems. You can always change your home page in Internet Options, but I'm sure you know that. If you have changed it several times and it keeps coming back to the link you posted, it could be malware.

You're more then welcome for any help. That's what we're here to do. Cookies would be nice as I just ran out of Oreos.
