Well my first question has to do with extensions. All of the sudden all my documents and exe's for example all have the file extension in the name. Like if I had a word document called "Geeks to Go paper" it would show up as Geeks to Go paper.doc. Was that some Windows update that made that happen, or just some setting that I changed. I ask this also because I have updated both of my other Windows XP computers and this doenst show up on the computers.

Secondly I was wondering how to re enable the toolbar on the left side of Windows Explorer. I have posted a screen shot of what I would like to re enable.

Two simple settings that can be changed.

First, open up any folder (such as my documents), select "Tools" menu > "Folder Options". Under the "General" tab (which it opens to), select the "Show common tasks in folders" to enable the bar you wanted to the left (the picture you posted above).

Second, using the same "Folder Options", open the "View" tab, and select "Hide extensions for known file types". This will mean that a .doc file (such as "Geeks to Go paper.doc") won't show the .doc extension (becomes plain "Geeks to Go paper").
