windows wont load, error very breifly flashes after loading screen

my other computer just wont startup. it gets to the boot screen where it loads windows, but the screen very briefly flashes what looks like random colors, then very briefly flashes and error on a blue screen, then restarts. i don't have a windows xp cd, so i dunno what to do.

any help would be greatly appreciated.



it is a compaq laptop running windows xp with sp2 if that helps :whistling:

Will it start in safe mode

wont start in safe mode, or any other mode on that screen. tried playing around in the boot menu and that dint change anything either. sorry its been a long time for the reply, im usually kinda busy, but thanks for the help.

Turn on the computer start tapping F8.

Choose Disable restart on sytem failure.

What is the Blue screen error message?

Also, see if you can borrow a same version as yo have installed XP CD

alrighty, i did what you said, and it says unmountable boot volume. i didnt install any new hardware or anything i dont knwo whats going on... i cant get a cd now so any other options?
